Alex Legouix takes the SQ6 for a drive to see whether Audi has got the formula just right for its new electric SUV

Audi has just launched its all-new Q6 e-tron, an electric SUV sitting neatly between the Q4 e-tron and the Q8 e-tron. In this video Alex drives the SQ6 e-tron, the performance focused version, to see how it shapes up.
The SQ6, like the rest of the Q6 e-tron range, shares its underpinnings with the electric Porsche Macan which certainly sounds promising on paper. Though not the fastest EV out of the blocks, Alex discovers the SQ6 is smooth and refined with agile handling and an impressive official WLTP range. The standard Q6 e-tron has can do up to 381 miles according to official figures, while the SQ6 has a claimed 361-mile maximum range. That’s further than the Tesla Model Y, so the SQ6 is off to a strong start. The good stuff doesn’t end there. This Audi is packed with the latest tech inside and out. The exterior features fancy configurable LEDs lights at the front and the rear which not only allow for personalisation but will also alert drivers behind you if they are getting a bit close or if there’s a traffic jam ahead. Inside the infotainment is powered by Android, like in the latest Volvos and information is displayed on a massive, curved screen a bit like in Peugeot’s new E-3008. Although there’s no physical button for the heating controls they are at least adjusted using icons on permanent display. Alex’s car gets ambient lighting and a screen for passengers too. As she demonstrates all these features and more, it’s clear sitting in the SQ6 is a comfortable place to be, particularly thanks to the swanky air-suspension. With an array of practical touches, the SQ6 an appealing package overall, but with a lofty asking price of over £93,000, is it worth the cash?
