Coming soon: 2020 Audi A3 Sportback
This is the all-new Audi A3 Sportback – the fourth generation of Audi’s hugely popular compact hatchback. Due to be unveiled at the 2020 Geneva motor show, the latest A3 hatchback will be available only in five-door Sportback form when it goes on sale this month.
On the outside, the new A3 has a much sharper look than the current car, with more angular lights and grilles, pronounced bodywork creases and bulging wheel arches. While the car’s overall length is unchanged, the new A3 is slightly lower and wider, giving it a more sporty appearance.
There are more dramatic changes inside, with a futuristic-looking interior dominated by a 10.1-inch touchscreen. There’s also a large digital driver display flanked by unusual high-mounted air vents.

From launch, a choice of one petrol and one diesel engine will be offered. Two more petrol engines will follow, with one featuring mild hybrid technology. Plug-in hybrid versions will join the range, along with the usual sporty S3 and RS3 variants. There are no plans for a full-electric model.
The 2020 Audi A3 Sportback will be available to order this month, with customer deliveries starting in July. Prices haven’t been confirmed but we’d expect a small increase over the current model, which starts at £22,725.
