This month’s selection of cars to try out, buy or simply dream about

Trying a car has never been easier – lots of car brands now offer subscription services on a monthly basis, with no down payment or exit fee so you can swap in and out of different models with minimal notice. Or you can lock in for longer, on a leasing deal, which still means you just pay a monthly amount and hand the car back at the end of the deal. Additionally, some brands provide 24-hour test drives for a chance to get to know the car before you commit.
Then there’s the Buy choice, whether it’s paying for the car in one hit or signing up to a fixed term finance deal with the option to buy the car at the end. These are cars that make good long-term sense. And finally our fave section, for dreamers everywhere. The new luxe stuff, the wishlist option or the treat yourself splurge, depending on how big that imagined windfall might be. Enjoy this month’s offerings!

Try

Nissan Ariya
The Nissan Ariya has been around for a few years now, but it continues to be one of the best family electric cars on the market, winning Best Car for Long Distances as voted by owners at our New Car Awards 2024. Combining comfort, refinement and lots of tech, the Ariya’s asking price may look chunky, but you get a lot of car for your money and over 300 miles of range in models with the bigger battery. To help make life easier, Nissan offers its own subscription service covering insurance, maintenance, and roadside assistance in one monthly payment and the flexibility to change your car every three months. This way you can see if the electric lifestyle is for you without having to commit long-term.

Buy

Citroën C3 Aircross
We loved the plucky new Citroën C3 when we first drove it and the now there’s a bigger Aircross version on the scene. This is equally as recommendable thanks to its focus on comfort, space, and great value for money. You can even have one with seven seats – although these are rather shoehorned in so we’d recommend sticking with the five-seater if you can. Either way, the C3 Aircross is a compact yet practical family car available as a petrol or hybrid, with a very well-priced electric version available too. It has all bases covered and with its cushioning seats and soft ride, the C3 Aircross is quintessentially Citroën and our pick to buy this month.

Dream

Maserati GranCabrio
As it’s Valentine’s Day this month, we’ve been swept away by the romance of an Italian convertible. While the Ferrari Roma has obvious charm, it’s the Maserati GranCabrio which has won our heart. The GranCabrio is available as a burbling V6 Trofeo or a silky smooth all-electric Folgore, both offering total comfort and a heavenly driving experience. There’s a vast range of colour options for your GranCabrio and we particularly like the dreamy blush pink depicted here. At £27,000, this paintwork is a significant investment, but what is love if not true commitment? This is a car you’ll want to have and to hold for the rest of your daydreams as you drive off into the sunset together.
