13 December 2007 The undisputed super middleweight champion of the world Joe Calzaghe is selling his Land Rover on Auto Trader. Welshman Joe Calzaghe, who also won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award on Sunday, is selling his 2005 Land Rover Discovery. The boxer - nicknamed ‘The Pride of Wales’ – was last week crowned as the BBC Sports Personality of the Year, beating F1 superstar Lewis Hamilton and fellow boxer Ricky Hatton, who lost to American Floyd Mayweather hours earlier. Joe Calzaghe has an unblemished record as a professional boxer – he defeated Chris Eubank in 1997 to take the WBO super middleweight crown, and has not relinquished it since. The last two years have seen Calzaghe at the peak of his game. He beat hotly-tipped US fighter Jeff Lacy in what many critics claim was his greatest performance. And earlier this year, he won against Mikkel Kessler at the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff, to emerge as the undisputed super middleweight champion of the world – the first boxer to unify the entire weight division. Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond likened the Disco as the “best 4x4 of all time”, with many regarding the current generation Land Rover Discovery as one of the best off-road vehicles available. Powered by a 2.7-litre V6 diesel engine producing just under 200bhp, the Land Rover Discovery channels its power to all four wheels via an automatic gearbox. Joe Calzaghe’s Discovery comes with self-levelling suspension, side steps and traction control, while on the inside, there’s two-tone black and beige leather interior, and a Land Rover telephone system. Now you can own Joe Calzaghe’s old Land Rover Discovery – which comes with a full service history – for just £18,995. |
