“Hypermilers” are a group of committed drivers who do everything they can to achieve one goal - to be the greenest drivers on the planet.

We look at the US motorists swapping eco-driving tips at this year’s green driving get-together.

‘Hybridfest’ is an annual gathering of US drivers who have one aim – to get the most miles for their gallon.

This year’s meeting took place in Wisconsin, where green car drivers swapped green driving tips and took part in competitions to see who could drive the furthest distance using the least fuel.

Among them was self-confessed mileage obsessor Rich Krueger, who travelled from Detroit to Madison, Wisconsin using green driving techniques.

Honda Civic HybridCar manufacturers GM were also present at this year’s show, not just to showcase their green cars, but to learn from the experts – the people who own green cars (like the Honda Civic Hybrid, pictured right) and have figured out new and innovative solutions for increasing fuel economy.
