Spot checks are becoming more popular with the police so ensure you're road legal with our checklist. 

Make sure you have:

• Your road tax disc displayed
• Passed your MOT
• Not emitting high exhaust emissions as this can lead to prosecution
• Windscreen wiper fluid - now a legal requirement to have washers filled up
• Road legal tyres. Make sure they have the correct tread depth, correct mixing of radial and cross ply tyres, no lumps, bulges or tyre tears and ensure all tyres have an ‘E’ marked on them. Cars with illegal tyres face a fine of up to £2,500 and three penalty points per tyre.
